India’s NTPC invites bids for SAF plant in MP
India’s leading power generation company NTPC has invited bidders to submit their proposals for the development and design of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) plant in the central state of Madhya Pradesh.
The tender includes works such as designing, engineering, supply handling, loading, storage and construction.
NTPC is planning to develop a 1,800 tonnes per annum SAF plant at Pudimadaka, MP.
This is part of NTPC’s reported $50bn bet on renewables over the next decade to develop a portfolio of green projects in the country.
Earlier in April of this year, NTPC also signed a memorandum of understanding with Honeywell to collaborate on the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) through the methanol-to-jet pathway.
NTPC aims to establish a domestic SAF base with investments into multiple pathways.
As part of the agreement, the two firms will jointly conduct a feasibility study to assess the potential of eSAF in the country by utilising captured carbon dioxide from the genco’s power plants and green hydrogen.
