India’s NTPC signs MoU with Honeywell on eSAF

Indian state-owned electricity generation company NTPC’s subsidiary NTPC Green Energy has signed a memorandum of understanding with Honeywell to collaborate on the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) through the methanol-to-jet pathway.
NTPC aims to establish a domestic SAF base with investments into multiple pathways.
The agreement was signed between NTPC’s executive director (Hydrogen) DMR Panda and Honeywell’s vice president and general manager Ranjit Kulkarni.
As part of the agreement, the two firms will jointly conduct a feasibility study to assess the potential of eSAF in the country by utilising captured carbon dioxide from the genco’s power plants and green hydrogen.
“The partnership with Honeywell UOP leverages cutting-edge technology and aligns with NTPC’s vision of achieving a 60GW renewable energy portfolio by 2032,” said the company in a statement.
