With decades of experience in establishing global operations and driving energy sector transitions, Noaman now focuses on advancing the shift from fossil fuels to renewable energy. A recognised thought leader in aviation decarbonisation, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the UK’s SAF landscape from its early stages, providing strategic insights and industry leadership.

Noaman holds an MBA from Sheffield Business School and a BSc degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Jordan.

Trevor Best is the co-founder, CEO, and Board Chair of Syzygy Plasmonics. Sophie is the Global head of biofuel and feedstock pricing at Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, based in London she heads an expanding team of market reporters in key hubs around the globe. Sophie’s team is responsible for benchmark ethanol and biodiesel coverage across the globe as well as new and dynamic markets such as sustainable aviation fuel, renewable diesel (HVO) and bio-bunkers. The team also assesses and publishes prices on key feedstock markets such as used cooking oil, palm-based waste feedstocks, sugar, and vegetable oils. The biofuels team is currently focused on expanding coverage in advanced biofuels.

Before returning to the UK in 2023, Sophie spent eight years based in Houston, TX, building and developing the Americas Agriculture pricing team, focusing on agriculture markets such as corn and oilseeds in North and South America. Sophie joined S&P Global London oil team in 2010 as a front-line price reporter, focusing on refined products. Before S&P Global, Sophie worked in cosmetics and marketing. She holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Nottingham and a master’s degree in international finance from Kingston University.

Thomas Engelmann is Head of Energy Transition at KGAL Investment Management GmbH & Co. In 2002, Adam left to co-manage activist manager, Platinum Fund Managers. Returning to the sell side in 2008 to focus on clean energy, Adam formed Longspur Research in 2019. Marcella Franchi joined Haffner Energy in 2021, a French company with a 30-year-old proven expertise in biomass-to-energy technology, and over 40 plants delivered to date. Marcella was a key player in the success of Haffner Energy’s IPO in February 2022. She was appointed SVP North America in May 2023 as the company’s international ambitions expanded due to the urgency of finding viable solutions for the energy transition. Haffner Energy is entering the USA market with its patented technologies in line with the IRA and Clean Hydrogen Strategy and Roadmap guidance, focusing on SAF and renewable hydrogen production from sustainable biomass and organic waste. Marcella began her career in financial engineering at Warren & Selbert (now Accufy Inc) in London, where she stayed for 17 years. She became a successful entrepreneur, founding and running companies in real estate and rentals in the UK and Portugal. Marcella has a degree from the London School of Economics and a postgraduate qualification in Corporate Finance from the London Business School. Clive Gibson is Senior Vice President, Energy & Chemicals Consulting.
Clive has over 30 years industry experience including over 25 years in the industry consulting sector with FGENexantECA. During this time he has undertaken consulting assignments in more than 40 countries globally. Typical assignments have included investment appraisals, strategy studies, project financing and M&A transactions, on behalf of a wide variety of project sponsors and financial institutions. In the project finance sector, he has acted as lead technical, environmental and/or commercial advisor to several multi billion dollar project financings from feasibility through construction and successful operations, involving export credit agencies, commercial banks and multi-lateral agencies.
Within the SAF sector, he has led FGENexantECA’s technical, environmental & social and commercial advisor roles for SAFCO’s SAF project in Pakistan on behalf of Asia Development Bank and IFC, the first successfully project financed SAF project in Asia. Currently he is leading similar roles in several other SAF projects which are in the financing stage and has worked extensively with main technology licensors including Axens, Honeywell-UOP and Topsoe, amongst others, from initial project definition stage through to final investment decision and beyond.
Prior to joining FGENexantECA more than 25 years ago, Clive spent six years working for ExxonMobil at Fawley Refinery, the largest refinery in the UK, where he undertook a number of operational and commercial roles.

Mahesh Roy leads the Green Finance Institute’s Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Programme, working at the intersection of industry, finance, and policy to unlock private capital and accelerate 2 & 3G SAF production across the UK and EU. He was previously a Director at IIGCC and CDP, focusing on climate finance initiatives, including working with the UNFCCC, OECD and UK government in mobilising private climate finance.  This followed nearly two decades in banking and finance—primarily with Macquarie.  Mahesh holds an MBA in Energy from Cranfield University.

Nikhil Sachdeva

Nikhil Sachdeva is a Principal in the London office. He supports Roland Berger’s work into how the aviation sector can transition to more climate-friendly technologies, from electrical propulsion to hydrogen and SAFs, as well as the commercial and technological implications for the aerospace and aviation sectors. As a consultant, he specialises in strategy projects for aerospace and aviation clients, having worked with major aerospace OEMs, suppliers, governmental bodies as well as major airlines.

Nikhil holds a Masters in Aerospace Engineering from Imperial College and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.

Helge Sachs

Chief Development Officer

Helge is a sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) and e-Fuels executive with more than 20 years of leadership experience across aviation, aerospace, and the energy transition. He currently serves as Chief Development Officer at Emerging Fuels Technology (EFT), where he focuses on the commercialization and global deployment of Fischer-Tropsch (FT) technology for SAF and low-carbon fuels.

Previously, he held senior leadership roles at Sasol, including Senior Vice President of Sasol ecoFT, where he was closely involved in advancing FT-based sustainable fuels strategy and contributed to the formation of Zaffra, the joint venture between Sasol and Topsoe. He later served as Chief Commercial Officer at CAPHENIA, supporting the scale-up of its Power-and-Biogas-to-Liquid (PBtL) technology for high-efficiency SAF production.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Sachs spent more than a decade in senior innovation and strategy roles at Lufthansa Technik and Airbus, driving technology development, product innovation, and digital transformation within the aviation sector.

With 20 years of experience across SAF, PtX, biofuels, hydrogen, and industrial decarbonisation, Izabela has partnered with scaleups and global industrial players to support market entry, unlock new revenue, and build investor confidence. Her strength lies in translating complex technology and regulation into commercial outcomes—connecting innovators, capital, and off-takers to accelerate sustainable fuel adoption.

Marvin Tabi is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of WESAF Energy and a leading advocate for sustainable fuels development in Africa. He holds an academic background in Law, complemented by further education and technical training in the oil and gas sector, providing him with a strong foundation in both regulatory frameworks and energy operations. This multidisciplinary expertise has enabled him to operate effectively at the intersection of policy, project development, and commercial energy strategy.

After holding several roles across the energy sector, Marvin founded WESAF Energy in 2015, initially as a consultancy focused on bioenergy development across Africa. In 2021, he transitioned WESAF into a full-scale biofuels project development company, launching its first flagship project: a sugarcane-to-ethanol facility in Cameroon, his home country. The project called IEPA (I) is due to begin construction in the first half of ’26. With its focus being biofuels, WESAF naturally moved towards  Sustainable Fuels both (SAF) and Marine , where Marvin is now a strong proponent of establishing regional SAF production capacity to support global decarbonisation targets while ensuring a fair and inclusive energy transition. He continues to champion Africa’s role in the future of clean aviation fuels by promoting policies and investments that enable local value creation, energy security, and carbon reduction at scale.

Ulrike Ziegler is president of impact on sustainable aviation e.V., a non-profit association founded in early 2022 by leading financiers, lessors, consultancies and universities in Aviation. impact e.V., a global platform, promotes climate protection in civil aviation by developing effective industry standards for translation into a sustainability-linked finance framework. Furthermore impact e.V. is dedicated to enable the scale-up of decarbonization technologies (e.g. SAF), a key ingredient to reach Net Zero 2050.

Ulrike has more than 20 years aviation experience and held senior positions at UniCredit Bank as Global Head of Aircraft Finance and at ING Germany as Head of Aviation. She has worked with airlines and lessors around the globe at various stages of their business development. Keen to facilitate change she has spearheaded major strategic projects at both UniCredit and ING.

Ulrike has served as long-standing member of the Investment Committee of the HSH Global Aircraft I fund. Prior to her aviation career she has worked in Project Finance, Export Finance and Syndications.
