Texas-based CVR Energy announced that the company is considering plans to repurpose their Wynnewood, Oklahoma refinery’s renewable diesel production unit towards 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

South Korean biofuel and petroleum refinery company JC Chemical has announced plans to setup a used cooking oil processing facility in Malaysia to be used as feedstock for the production of sustainable aviation fuel.

“This project will also position Malaysia as a regional hub for SAF feedstock production, thereby strengthening the nation’s biofuel value chain,” said the country’s minister for investment, trade and industry Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz.

He further added that the project is in line with the country’s National Energy Transition Roadmap as well as the New Industrial Master Plan 2030.

Malaysia is set to have its first production facility at the end of 2025 with EcoCeres eyeing production at the Tanjung Langsat site in Johor.

The southeast Asian country has been a leading SAF feedstock player due to its domestic biofuel production capacity. Malaysia accounted for nearly 12% of the feedstock imported into the European Union in 2024 for the use of SAF production.
