UOB signed an inset agreement with DHL to use SAF to reduce the carbon emissions from the bank’s international parcel deliveries.

DHL Express announced that it has onboarded Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) to its sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) powered GoGreen Plus Service to help reduce the bank’s  annual greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from shipping documents by 90%.

“The collaboration with BPI is a step in the right direction. Together we want to make international express shipping more sustainable. We hope this agreement will inspire other companies to transition to low-carbon transportation services using SAF,” said Nigel Lockett, country manager, DHL Express Philippines.

DHL Express launched the GoGreen Plus service in 2023 as a service allowing business consumers reduce carbon footprint from air freight with the help of SAF.

GoGreen Plus is powered by bp, Neste and World Energy.

“With the partnership, BPI, with the help of DHL Express, hopes to set a new standard for sustainability in the logistics and banking sector. This joint effort aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 13, which addresses climate action, and SDG 17, which emphasizes partnerships to achieve sustainable goals,” said Eric Luchangco, CFO, BPI.

Since its launch in 2023, DHL Express has onboarded more than 12,000 customers to GoGreen Plus service in Asia Pacific (excluding China).

This includes more than 2,800 companies who have signed a contractual agreement to use GoGreen Plus whereas the rest have opted GoGreen Plus as the shipping service through MyDHL+, the company’s online shipping and tracking platform.
