Indonesia’s Pertamina delivers first batch of SAF

Indonesia energy major Pertamina said it has delivered the first batch sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) produced at the refining unit PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional.
The SAF was produced through used cooking oil at the company’s Cilacap refinery using the co-processing pathway.
The batch, approximately 32 kilolitres, will be used for a flight between Jakarta to Denpasar, Bali later this month by Pertamina’s airline subsidiary Pelita Air.
Following the successful trial of this delivery, Pertamina plans to deliver additional 1.7m litres of SAF to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta.
The Cilacap refinery has the potential to produce 1,400 kilolitres of SAF per day using the HEFA pathway.
The south east Asian country of Indonesia is currently in the process of introducing a SAF mandate with 3% blend from 2026 onwards.
