Saffaire Sky Energy to source UCO from Tachikawa City
Saffaire Sky Energy, in partnership with JGC Holdings and Revo International, entered in an agreement with the Tachikawa City, Tokyo to recycle used cooking oil to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
A signing ceremony for the agreement was also held at Tachikawa City Hall on the same day, with Tokyo’s Mayor Sakai in attendance.
Until now, Tachikawa City has incinerated UCO but the city will now collect it at three locations in the city from residents.
Tachikawa City will continue to install collection boxes at the three locations mentioned above and will collect UCO from residents from early February this year. In addition, starting in August, the city will become the first municipality in Tokyo to use UCO from the city’s shared school lunch kitchens as a raw material for SAF.
Based on this agreement, Revo International will collect this UCO and transport it to SAffaire Sky Energy’s plant (within the Cosmo Oil Sakai Refinery) to be recycled as a raw material for domestically produced SAF.
