Aircraft, crew maintenance and insurance services provider Avia Solutions Group announced that it has entered into a partnership with DHL Express to increase its use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to reduce emissions from international shipments.

“By utilising SAF for our large-scale logistics needs, we can prove the viability of this approach and nudge other aviation companies to take bold steps in order to minimise their environmental impact,” said Jonas Janukenas, CEO, Avia Solutions Group.

Under the agreement, Avia will sign up to DHL’s GoGreen Plus service to reduce their Scope 3 emissions by incorporating SAF into their logistics operations.

“We are proud to support Avia Solutions Group in their commitment to reducing GHG emissions across their extensive network,” said Mindaugas Pivoriunas, managing director at DHL Express Lithuania.

“The aviation industry’s path to net-zero requires collaborative efforts, and the wide adoption of GoGreen Plus shows the willingness of world-leading aviation players to fully embrace more sustainable practices.”

The company has already been using the GoGreen Plus Basic Model. So far, Avia Solutions Group has achieved a 12.61% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions associated with DHL shipments, equating to 30.6 tonnes of emissions saved between January and April 2025, the company said.

The partnership encompasses multiple subsidiaries within Avia Solutions Group across various sub-sectors, reflecting what the company describes as a group-wide commitment to sustainable operations.

DHL’s GoGreen Plus service facilitates emissions reduction through SAF, which is produced from alternative feedstock such as used cooking oil or waste materials.

The service forms part of DHL Group’s broader commitment to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. DHL Express has established strategic partnerships with major SAF producers, including agreements with bp and Neste to supply over 800m litres of SAF to the DHL Express network.
