Neste partners with United Airlines to expand SAF supply in US
Neste said it has expanded its partnership with United Airlines to ensure the availability of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to three more US airports including George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston, Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in New Jersey, and Dulles International Airport (IAD) in Washington D.C.
“Introducing SAF for the first time at our hubs in Houston, Newark, and Dulles is another significant milestone in United’s sustainability journey,” said United’s chief sustainability officer Lauren Riley. “While United remains the leading SAF user in the US, using over 4,300 metric tons (13m gallons) last year, we recognise that the growth of the SAF market requires support from both state and federal governments.”
This new agreement builds on the long-term partnership between Neste and United. Neste has been supplying SAF to United at Chicago O’Hare International Airport since August 2024. As part of the extended agreement, Neste will deliver neat SAF to United Airlines at the three locations.
Neste and United Airlines have expanded their existing partnership to supply sustainable
The SAF producer said it began SAF deliveries to United at George Bush Airport in July and will continue till the end of October.
Deliveries of SAF to Newark Airport and Dulles Airport started in September 2025 and are set to continue until the end of 2025.
“We are thrilled to enable United Airlines to expand SAF use to new markets in the United States. It is crucial that more states enact proven incentive policy frameworks to accelerate the production of SAF and support the aviation industry towards its bold net-zero carbon emission goal by 2050,” says Carl Nyberg, senior vice president, Commercial, Renewable Products at Neste.
