Fire at Neste Rotterdam will not delay SAF production

Neste’s Rotterdam refinery was shut down because of a small fire on 22nd December 2022. No one was injured and repair work was started immediately after the fire was extinguished.

The fuel company says that the fire will have no effect on its refinery expansion project. A major part of this expansion is adding Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production at the site. It aims to produce 500,000 tons of SAF in 2023 and increase this to 1.2m tons by 2026. The first fuel stock will be oils and fats (HEPFA).
