Neste, ENOC join hands to explore SAF supply in MENA
Neste and ENOC Group have signed an agreement to explore the possibility of supplying and purchasing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in Dubai and the wider Middle East North Africa (MENA) region in the coming years.
“This transformative agreement serves as a testament to ENOC’s unwavering commitment to advancing the UAE’s visionary goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 … By embracing SAF, we aspire to set new standards for responsible business practices, becoming pioneers in fostering a more sustainable future for our industry,” said His Excellency Saif Humaid Al Falasi, Group CEO, ENOC.
The two firms recently collaborated on Emirates’ first Airbus A380 100% SAF demonstration flight and Emirates 100% SAF demonstration flight on a Boeing 777-300ER earlier this year.
“SAF is a readily available solution for reducing the greenhouse gas emissions from air travel. This milestone agreement with ENOC to explore the supply of SAF in the coming years not only illustrates our commitment to supporting airlines in the region …,” said Alexander Kueper, Vice President EMEA, Neste.
Earlier this month, Enoc announced that its jet fuel sales will reach over a billion gallons by the end of 2023.
The group also announced its plans to supply SAF to Dubai Airports in 2024 in line with its long-term strategy.
