Israel pushes for SAF with new committee, incentives

Israel’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure said it will setup and lead an inter-ministerial committee to increase the usage of SAF through incentives.
The ministry said that the committee will also explore the adoption of regulation and solutions in order to increase the usage of SAF by airlines in the country.
Earlier in 2023, El Al Israel celebrates its first flight using SAF on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
It was Israeli flag carrier’s first journey using 30% SAF blend of in the aircraft’s total fuel.
Moreover, CarboNGC, an Israeli joint venture between the Ralco Group and the Blechner Center for Industrial Catalysis and Process Development announced plans to invest $2.4m in the venture to produce SAF in the country.
The JV plans to build the first demonstration plant by 2025.
