Bangchak delivers SAF to Thai airports via pipeline

Bangchak Corporation, in partnership with Bangkok Aviation Fuel Services (BAFS) and BAFS Pipeline Transportation (BPT), has successfully initiated a pilot project to deliver sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) via pipeline to Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang International Airports.
Aligned with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) standards, the project aims to support both domestic and international airlines within the SAF alliance.
Key executives from Bangchak, BAFS, and BPT presided over the launch, emphasising the importance of this initiative in promoting sustainable aviation practices and fostering economic growth.
The project involves blending SAF with traditional jet fuel (Jet A1) and transporting it through the existing pipeline infrastructure to the two major airports. This pilot phase is crucial for assessing the feasibility and efficiency of SAF delivery via pipeline, paving the way for future expansion and wider adoption of sustainable aviation fuels in Thailand.
Bangchak Corporation has made a substantial investment of over THB 8.5bn ($254m) to develop SAF production from used cooking oil through its subsidiary, BSGF Co., Ltd.
Construction of the SAF production unit at Bangchak Refinery is on track, with anticipated production starting in early Q2 of 2025. The unit will have an initial capacity of 1m liters per day.
