Neste appoints Eeva Sipilä as new CFO; restructures leadership

Finnish Neste Corporation has announced a new leadership team structure alongside the appointment of Eeva Sipilä as its chief financial officer (CFO).

Sipilä will officially begin her role no later than May 1st, 2025.

In the interim, Anssi Tammilehto, Neste’s vice president of investor relations, will serve as the acting CFO. Sipilä brings extensive experience to the role, having served as both CFO and deputy CEO at Metso Corporation.

She has also held positions on Neste’s Board of Directors since 2022, becoming vice chair in 2023.

“I’m delighted to welcome Eeva to Neste,” said Heikki Malinen, president and CEO of Neste. “She has an exceptional track record from many demanding positions and as a current Board member, she already knows Neste and its business environment. I wish Eeva the best of luck at Neste. I would also like to thank Martti for his valuable contribution at Neste. He has been very dedicated to his work and I wish him all the success in his future endeavours.”

Leadership team restructuring

Beyond the CFO appointment, Neste’s leadership structure is undergoing significant changes. Heikki Malinen, while retaining his CEO position, will also take the lead of Neste’s renewable products business area. Markku Korvenranta will remain on the leadership team, assuming the role of executive vice president for oil products and chief operating officer (COO).

Hannele Jakosuo-Jansson continues her role as executive vice president of people & culture. Korvenranta, Sipilä, and Jakosuo-Jansson will all report directly to Malinen. Other members of the previous executive committee will take on different positions within the company, with the exception of Ala-Härkönen, who will leave the company.

Malinen expressed his belief that the new structure is well-suited to navigate Neste’s current complexities and challenging business environment.

He emphasised the need for sharper leadership and faster decision-making, and wished all members of the new Leadership Team success in their roles.
