Avfuel expands SAF access in southeastern US
Aviation fuel and services company Avfuel Corporation announced its expansion of blended sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) offering across the southeastern United States.
“We are thrilled to make this exciting announcement amongst our industry peers in Las Vegas, showcasing our dedication to innovation and environmental stewardship,” said Joel Hirst, Avfuel’s senior vice president of sales. “This supply agreement exemplifies the proactive approach needed to meet the industry’s sustainability goals, providing a practical, scalable solution for operators looking to reduce emissions without compromising performance.”
The fuel will be supplied by Valero Marketing and Supply Company, a subsidiary of Valero Energy Corporation.
This announcement was made during the National Business Aviation Association’s Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE), where innovation and sustainable technologies were key themes.
The supply agreement with Valero significantly increases Avfuel’s volume and geographic access to SAF, allowing the company to prioritise access for business aviation operations.
The neat SAF produced by Diamond Green Diesel LLC is made from used cooking oil and can reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% compared to conventional jet fuel. Blended SAF can lower emissions by up to 24%.
Avfuel is prioritising SAF access for operators in Florida, with plans to expand to other southeastern states.
The company is focused on the logistics of the first truckload delivery, anticipated in the coming months, which will mark a major milestone in scaling SAF distribution and adoption within the business aviation sector.
