Global logistics provider Rhenus Logistics has announced its participation in Air France KLM Martinair Cargo’s sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) programme to reduce the environmental impact of air freight operations.

“SAF is a cornerstone for lower emissions future of air freight, helping us meet environmental goals while maintaining the efficiency and reliability that our customers rely on. This partnership reflects our dedication to addressing the environmental challenges of aviation through forward-thinking solutions,” said Frank Swart, head of sustainable air freight product development at Rhenus Air & Ocean

The logistics provider said that with this investment in the SAF programme, it aims to contribute to the development and usage of this cleaner alternative to traditional jet fuel.

“As the aviation industry works to meet ambitious sustainability goals, collaborations like this with Rhenus are essential in driving the widespread adoption of Sustainable Aviation Fuel. Together, we are taking important steps to reduce the environmental impact of air transport and accelerate the shift towards cleaner energy solutions,” said Robert Kunen, vice president Europe at Air France KLM Martinair Cargo

The company also has a emission dashboard to provide customers with detailed insights into the CO2 emissions associated with their shipments. Transport Mode Optimization, including the RHEGREEN tool, helps customers identify the most efficient transportation options, further reducing their environmental footprint.

Through these initiatives, Rhenus is empowering its customers to make informed decisions and take action to reduce their carbon emissions.
