JGC Holdings Corporation (JGC), Revo International, SAFFAIRE SKY ENERGY and Cosmo Oil announced that the construction work on the sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) plant has completed and the site will begin trial production in January.

The company said the construction work was completed on December 25, 2024 and the site will supply approximately 30,000 kiloliters (30m litres) of SAF per year domestically, using 100% waste edible oil as the raw material.

SAF produced by the companies has already obtained ISCC CORSIA certification.

Trial operation of the SAF production facility will begin in January 2025, and supply of SAF to airlines is scheduled to begin around April 2025.

The project has been subsidised by Japan’s leading promoter of research and development New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO, with JGC being responsible for building the entire supply chain, Revo International procuring raw materials, Sapphire Sky Energy producing neat SAF, and Cosmo Energy Group producing blended SAF and selling it to users.
