Moeve delivers 14k tonnes of SAF in 2024

Spain’s energy company Moeve (formerly Cepsa) delivered 14,400 tonnes of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in 2024 to airlines including Air Europa, Iberia, Vueling, Air Nostrum, TUI, Wizz Air and easyJet.
Moeve has installed capacity to produce SAF at the La Rábida Energy Park, located in Palos de la Frontera, Huelva, using the existing production units at the complex.
Álvaro Macarro, the company’s director of sustainable aviation, stressed that “with the entry into force of the European mandate ReFuelEU Aviation, which establishes that from January 1 of this year all airlines must incorporate 2% of SAF in their flights until reaching 70% in 2050, the role of the La Rábida Energy Park will be crucial to help our clients in the aviation sector achieve their decarbonisation objectives”.
The La Rábida Energy Park is one of the leading SAF producer in Spain which was upgraded to house technology to process bio feedstocks.
In addition, Moeve is already building its new second-generation biofuel plant in Huelva, which will entail an investment of up to €1.2bn.
The plant will have a flexible production capacity of renewable diesel and SAF of 500,000 tonnes per year. It is scheduled to be put into operation in 2026.
