Japan’s Eneos begins SAF supply to Skymark Airlines

Japan’s Eneos Corporation announced that it has entered in an agreement with Skymark Airlines for the sale and purchase of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in Japan.
Eneos said that it aims to ensure a steady supply of SAF in the country to help airlines achieve their decarbonization goals.
Skymark Airlines, headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, aims to achieve net-zero CO2 emissions by 2050, and has set a goal of replacing 10% of aviation fuel use with SAF by 2030.
This is the company’s first procurement of SAF, marking an important milestone toward achieving this goal.
Earlier in September 2024, Eneos Corporation announced the launch of its own SAF book and claim service powered by Shell’s Avelia blockchain solution, allowing airlines and corporates in Japan to purchase environmental attributes of SAF, reducing their carbon footprint.
In addition to the Skymark Airlines, the company also signed a SAF supply agreement with Japan Airlines.
Eneos is currently planning to develop SAF production site at its Wakayama refinery.
