Jiaao Enprotech certified to supply SAF in China

BP-backed Zhejiang Jiaao Enprotech announced that sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) produced by the company has been certified by the Civil Aviation Administration of China.
“Zhejiang Jiaao Environmental Protection Technology has recently officially obtained the ‘Technical Standards Project Approval’ issued by the Civil Aviation Administration of China for its holding subsidiary Lianyungang Jiaao New Energy,” said the company in its stock filing.
“The acquisition of this certificate signifies that the bio-aviation fuel products produced by Lianyungang Jiaao have met the airworthiness certification requirements of the Civil Aviation Administration of China.”
The company will produce SAF at its factory in Lianyungang, eastern Jiangsu province using food scraps and cooking oil. The plant began operations in November last year with the production capacity of 750,000 tonnes of SAF per annum – making it the country’s largest SAF producer.
The company partnered with Honeywell Performance Materials & Technologies in September 2022 for the project.
Earlier last year, BP purchased a 15% stake in the company.
