Breakthrough Energy Catalyst’s investment in Infinium’s Project Roadrunner soared away with the coveted “Project Investment of the Year – US” award.

This recognition underscores the potential of this first-of-its-kind commercial-scale power-to-liquids (PtL) eFuels facility, poised to revolutionise sustainable aviation fuel (e-SAF) production in North America.

“The deal with Breakthrough Energy Capital was many months into diligence. Catalyst looked at couple of hundred projects globally and Project Roadrunner is their only SAF project that they have invested in so far. They have very high standards for invest ability and offtake commitments,” said Robert Schuetzle, CEO, Infinium while speaking to SAF Investor.

“The Roadrunner project that got the Breakthrough Energy Capital investment is our second project. “One of the things that Breakthrough Energy Capital saw in Infinium, I believe, is a track record of being able to being able to able to get commercial facilities up and running. The Roadrunner project is a brownfield gas-to-liquid facility using our technology converting natural gas into fuels and chemicals.”

Breakthrough Energy Catalyst, founded by Bill Gates and backed by a coalition of leading investors including Jeff Bezos, Michael Bloomberg, Richard Branson, Marc Benioff, Ray Dalio, David Rockefeller, John Arnold, Vinod Khosla, and John Doerr, empowers ground breaking climate technologies.

Their $75m equity commitment to Project Roadrunner represents a bold endorsement of SAF’s potential and growth opportunities in the US.
