Sulzer to enable SAF production in China
Swiss leading infrastructure and processes provider Sulzer solutions announced that it will provide technology support to a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production facility in China.
“We are proud to support our customer in reducing carbon emissions in one of the world’s fastest-growing markets. As a strategic enabler of essential industries, we strive to tie economic prosperity to sustainable growth and are delighted to see our technological expertise serve the transition towards more sustainable fuel options,” said Sulzer’s executive chairwoman Suzanne Thoma.
The facility, based in Shandong, is expected to produce 500,000 metric tons of SAF per year.
Sulzer’s customized pump technology played a major role in China’s chemical and energy industries to help meet the rising demand for eco-friendly aviation fuels.
Sulzer is providing sets of customized pumps designed to reliably tolerate both high-pressure and high-temperature conditions for the necessary refinement of the low-carbon feedstocks.
“Our robust pump solutions are designed to meet the highest standards of efficiency in challenging industries. This partnership is a testament to our commitment to energy security and transition, delivering solutions that make a tangible impact on the environment and lead the way for tomorrow’s energy needs,” said Jan Lueder, Sulzer’s flow division president.
