easyJet, Renavia and WFS sign MoU for SAF
European low-cost airline easyJet announced it has signed an MoU with World Fuel Services and Braathens Renavia for the long-term supply of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) for the airline’s operations in Europe and UK.
The agreement will give the airline access to up to 150,000 tons of SAF including 75,000 tons of e-SAF from 2030 onwards.
“We are committed to supporting the growth of the SAF industry and delighted to have the opportunity to invest in e-SAF, which is expected to deliver as much as 90% lower emissions than conventional jet fuel, in support of our decarbonisation strategy,” said Raminder Shergill. director of tax & fuel strategy, easyJet.
The SAF supplied by Braathens Renavia and Mana Group is expected to be produced using gasification of biomass and solid waste, further enhanced with hydrogen generated from renewable energy sources.
Under the MoU, World Fuel will manage logistics, blending, storage and regulatory fulfilment for the EU and UK mandates.
