Liquid Sun secures €4m for eSAF production
Voima Ventures announced €4m ($4.2m) investment in Finnish green technology company Liquid Sun to accelerate the development of sustainable aviation fuel (eSAF).
The funding will help the company develop Finland’s first eSAF production testing facility which will use carbon dioxide (CO2) and water to turn it into synthetic aviation fuel. The company uses their proprietary low-temperature electrolyser to convert these elements into eSAF.
“Securing this funding in a challenging market proves Liquid Sun’s potential as a serious player in the e-fuel market,” said Samuel Thesleff, chairman, Liquid Sun. “This is just the beginning as we scale eSAF production and help Finland achieve its emission reduction goals.”
The Nordics offer a unique ecosystem, rich in renewable energy and biogenic CO2 from the forest industry, Finland makes for an ideal hub for eSAF production.
Liquid Sun claims that with strong government support and abundant resources, it is well-positioned to lead the Nordic region in advancing sustainable aviation.
