Boeing buying 1.7m gallons of Neste SAF from EPIC, Signature and Avfuel

Boeing has agreed to buy 1.7m gallons of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) from Neste. It will be supplied by EPIC Fuels, Signature Aviation and Avfuel.

This is more than double the amount of SAF that Boeing bought in 2022.

“Boeing is sending a clear message to the entire aviation industry through this purchase that SAF is a key solution to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from flying,” said Michael Sargeant, vice president Americas, Renewable Aviation, Neste. “We are proud to be a part of this collaboration along with our partners EPIC Fuels, Signature Aviation and Avfuel.” 

The SAF will be blended 30/70 with conventional jet fuel producing 5.6 million gallons of blended SAF. 

EPIC Fuels, Signature and Avfuel will supply blended SAF for Boeing’s ecoDemonstrator program and for flights from Washington state and South Carolina. EPIC Fuels and Signature will also supply blended SAF for executive flights and delivery flights by customers.

Boeing says that all its aircraft will be able to fly on 100% SAF by 2030.
