CATAGEN submits SAF sample to EU Clearing House

UK-based CATAGEN became the first technology company to submit sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) sample to the EU SAF Clearing House established earlier this month.
Belfast-based CATAGEN is developing e-SAF from wind, water and air and bio-SAF from wind and sustainable organic waste.
“Our purpose is to clean and decarbonise the air and submitting our SAF sample to the EU SAF Clearing House gets us one step further on our roadmap to launching SAF from CATAGEN’s pioneering ClimaHtech E-FUEL GEN production model,” said Dr. Andrew Woods, founder and CEO, CATAGEN.
“The machine can produce clean fuels like SAF and e-diesel from renewable hydrogen (from water, H2O) and sustainable carbon dioxide (from the air) and is powered by renewable electricity. It presents a significant economic and decarbonisation opportunity.”
CATAGEN is developing ClimaHtech EFUEL GEN technology combining renewable hydrogen and sustainable carbon dioxide to make energy-dense liquid e-fuels.
Ricardo is leading the consortium, with members including Trinity College Dublin, Intertek, Politecnico di Torino, ENVISA, and Spark Legal and Policy Consulting, creating the EU’s first ever SAF Clearing House.
The consortium is establishing a network of European and international testing facilities and will guide fuel producers in assessing the environmental impacts of their products and in meeting strict eligibility criteria.
Moreover, the EU SAF Clearing House will also provide sustainability services for prospective fuel producers and focus on nurturing a mature SAF supply chain in Europe, participating at technical events, advising on research and innovation, and promoting policy coherence.
