Japan’s Cosmo Oil signs SAF supply agreement with EVA Air

Cosmo Oil Marketing announced that it has signed a sustainable aviation fuel sale agreement with Taiwanese airline EVA Air.
Under the agreement, Cosmo will supply SAF to the airline at the Kansai International Airport.
“We believe sustainable development is not a choice, but a responsibility. Our collaboration with COSMO reflects our firm commitment to net-zero emissions, and the active implementation of SAF across our global network will not only reduce our operational carbon footprint, but also promote transformation and growth across the entire aviation supply chain,” said Clay Song, president of EVA Air.
The SAF will be produced by Saffaire Sky Energy, a joint venture established by Cosmo Oil, JGC Holdings Corporation and Revo International through the HEFA pathway using used cooking oil as the primary feedstock.
“Since 2021, we have received support from the Japanese government, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry’s Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, and NEDO. We have been working on commercializing this project with JGC Holdings Corporation, Cosmo Oil and Revo International,” said Takeshi Takada, representative of Saffaire Sky Energy.
Earlier this week, Cosmo also announced SAF offtake agreement with Starlux Airlines to deliver SAF at Kobe Airport through in fiscal 2025.
