Airbus honoured as Investor of the Year at SAF Investor London 2025
The SAF Investor London 2025 Conference concluded its inaugural day with a awards ceremony, recognising leading entities for their pivotal contributions to the sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
Among the distinguished recipients, Airbus was named Investor Of The Year, underscoring its expansive and strategic engagement in advancing aviation decarbonisation.
Airbus’s win reflects a broad commitment to SAF, encompassing multiple investments across a diverse portfolio of companies worldwide. This includes collaborations with Climate Tech Partners in Australia, active utilisation of SAF in its domestic operations in Canada, and key partnerships with Nippon, Japan Airlines, and Sumitomo Corporation for a dedicated SAF facility in Japan. This comprehensive approach highlights Airbus’s role not just as an aircraft manufacturer, but as a critical enabler of the SAF ecosystem globally.
Further accolades were distributed to other significant players driving the industry forward.
Rely Partners and Verso Energy jointly secured the Project Investment Of The Year award. Their collaboration involves a substantial investment with Verso Energy aimed at activating 500,000 tons of eSAF production across France, Finland, and the USA, marking a substantial step in scaling up project development.
In the Venture Deal category, United Airlines was recognised for its strategic investment in Twelve. This partnership includes a significant 260m gallon SAF offtake agreement, designed to ensure a consistent SAF supply for the airline while simultaneously supporting Twelve’s capacity to scale its eSAF production in the United States.
Rounding out the corporate acknowledgments, Microsoft received the Corporate Buyer of the Year award. This honour recognised Microsoft’s pioneering role in establishing the largest and longest Scope 3 SAF agreement to date, entered into in partnership with IAG.
The SAF Investor Awards serve to highlight the crucial investments, innovative partnerships, and strategic commitments that are collectively propelling the SAF market towards commercial viability and widespread adoption.
