Ethiopian Airlines to work with Satarem on SAF
Ethiopian Airlines Group and industrial machinery manufacturer Satarem America have signed an agreement to develop sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in Ethiopia.
Under the agreement, Satarem shall produce SAF in the country, and the airline has agreed to acquire the SAF produced by the company.
“We are excited to partner with Satarem America Inc in our journey towards a greener and more sustainable future. The adoption of SAF is not just a business decision; it reflects our commitment to combating climate change and investing in innovative solutions that support a sustainable industry,” said Mesfin Tasew, CEO, Ethiopian Airlines Group.
The airline said the partnership will help it incorporate SAF into its operations and reduce carbon emissions and supporting global efforts to combat climate change.
Ethiopian is one of the leading airlines in Africa, with a major chunk of the domestic market.
