Thai biofuel firm BBGI Public Company announced that it has acquired remaining 30% stake in BBGI Biodiesel Company (BBGI-BI) taking its ownership in the company to 100% to accelerate its plans for biofuels especially sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

“We assess the overall picture in 2025 that the biofuel business will continue to grow from high sales and sales volume. With the strategy of using full capacity, the company has efficient costs, so we are confident that the core business will grow strongly, along with positive factors from the acquisition of BBGI-BI shares to reinforce the industry leader,” said Kittipong Limsuwanroj, CEO and managing director of BBGI Public Company.

“In addition, the new business, the SAF project, the company holds a 20% stake and the CDMO project holds a 75% stake. The construction of the plant is expected to be completed next year, significantly supporting the growth of the biofuel business in a new dimension that emphasizes reducing the amount of carbon that affects the greenhouse effect, similar to the biodiesel and ethanol businesses.”

The acquisition will boost BBGI’s biodiesel production capacity to 1m liters per day and help support the development of the SAF plant. BBGI’s SAF project, currently 70% complete, is on track for commercial operations in Q2 2025.

In addition to its core biofuel and SAF businesses, BBGI is expanding its portfolio with advanced biotechnology services through its CDMO project. This project, the first of its kind in Southeast Asia, is 70% complete and is expected to commence operations in the coming year.

Limsuwanroj expressed optimism about the company’s future, highlighting the strong growth prospects for the biofuel and SAF businesses.

With the acquisition of BBGI-BI, coupled with the progress of the SAF and CDMO projects, the company plans to capitalize on the growing demand for sustainable and innovative solutions.
